Vision Therapy in Mt. Pleasant

At Pleasant Optics, we offer vision therapy in Mt. Pleasant to treat a range of vision issues that can’t be fixed with glasses or contact lenses. Vision therapy is like physical therapy, but for your eyes! The goal of this therapy is to improve the visual skills you or your child needs to excel in school, sports, and more.

What is vision therapy?

Vision therapy uses a series of customized exercises to enhance your visual skills and improve your brain-eye connection. By using prisms, special red/green lenses, anti-suppression exercises, and a variety of other techniques, our experts can help improve eye coordination, focus, and visual processing skills.

We also incorporate tools such as balance boards and exercise balls to make our vision therapy sessions more interactive and engaging for patients of all ages!

What conditions can be treated with vision therapy?

Vision therapy can address a wide range of issues, including:

  • Amblyopia (lazy eye)
  • Binocular vision problems (when the eyes struggle to work together)
  • Strabismus (crossed eyes)
  • Double vision
  • Eye teaming and tracking problems
  • Trouble focusing at school
  • Recurring headaches, especially after reading for long periods

Our vision therapy process

The first step in any vision therapy program is a comprehensive eye exam so that our eye doctors in Mt. Pleasant can gain a better understanding of your vision and eye health.

Every patient is different and requires individualized care. Our on-site vision therapists will work closely with our optometrists to assess your visual skills and determine the best course of action for improving your vision through therapy.

Sensorimotor exams

As a part of the process, we will perform a sensorimotor exam. These exams are specialized tests that assess how well your eyes work together and move in unison.

Sensorimotor eye exams are crucial for diagnosing and treating vision problems that can impact your ability to perform daily activities, including reading, driving, and sports. Based on the results of your sensorimotor exam, our eye care specialists may recommend vision therapy.

Everyone at Pleasant Optics is wonderful. I encountered at least 4 different people for 4 different aspects of my visit. Each one was extremely nice, knowledgeable and personable. They all made me feel comfortable and like I was the only patient there. This place is the best!!! Highly recommend if you are looking for a eye doctor.
